Botswana

In 2020, Botswana will continue the development of its INFF with support from the UN Joint SDG Fund.

Through the INFF process, the Government of Botswana will undertake much needed reforms to improve the mobilisation of domestic and international public and private SDG financing. The INFF’s focus will be improving the government’s revenue generating capacity to support the realisation of the SDGs at national and local levels. In addition, it will support the government’s commitment to improving the efficiency of spending across all sectors and addressing corruption and illicit financial flows.

The development of an SDG financing strategy and support for the implementation of zero-based budgeting will require the collective involvement of all development actors. Strategic areas that will be examined and analysed include the alignment of various taxes, the alignment of planning and budgeting processes to the SDGs, the facilitation of inclusive SDG financing dialogues amongst stakeholders and a gender analysis on gender responsive budgeting.
